Can I tint my front windshield in the state of Florida?
Yes, but only at the very top. You can legally apply a non-reflective tint above the manufacturer's AS-1 line. Typically the top 5 to 6 inches of the windshield. How do I schedule service for my vehicle?
At Tinted Up 850, we work on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure every customer receives the time and attention their vehicle deserves. This also helps us avoid scheduling issues that can sometimes occur due to unexpected delays or customer no-shows.
We do prefer vehicle drop-offs whenever possible, and all vehicles are completed in the order they are received. As soon as your vehicle is finished, we’ll give you a call or send you a message for pickup.

VLT stands for Visible Light Transmission, which is the percentage of light that passes thrugh the glass. The lower the percentage, the darker the window tint.
What is the legal window tint law in the state of Florida?
Sedans,coupes, and convertibles:
- Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line.
- Front Side windows: Must have a visible light transmission (VLT) of at least 28%.
- Back Side windows: Must have a VLT of at least 15%.
- Rear Window: Must have a VLT of at least 15%.
SUVs, trucks, and vans:
- Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line.
- Front Side windows: Must have a VLT of at least 28%.
- Back Side windows: Must have a VLT of at least 6%.
- Rear Window: Must have a VLT of at least 6%.
Will window tint interfere with cell service or GPS?
Yes, window tint can interfere with cell service and GPS, but only if you use a metal-based film. Non-metallic options like ceramic or carbon tints will not block your electronic signals.
Safe Tint Options:
- Ceramic tint: Uses non-conductive nano-particles that block heat without blocking signals.
- Carbon tint: Contains no metal and keeps your phone and GPS working normally.
- Dyed tint: A basic, non-metallic option that is safe for electronics.
How do I care for my windows after tinting?
Before cleaning, wait 3-5 days for the tint to cure. The moisture between the film and glass must dry completely.
Follow these standards to protect your investment:
- Ammonia-free only: Never use cleaners with ammonia, like standard blue Windex.
- Chemical damage: Ammonia will chemically break down, peel, and discolor the tint film.
- Safe cleaner options: Use soapy water, vinegar-based sprays, or specialized tint-safe glass cleaners.
- Soft cloths: Clean only with clean microfiber cloths or soft rubber squeegees.
- Avoid abrasives: Never use paper towels, scrubbing pads, or newspapers which cause scratches.
